Our Support

The Grand Rapids Service Club has been a major supporter of YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin for most of its camping program over the past 110 years. We began modestly with small projects, often with members forming work crews on site to help build cabins, clear paths and do annual volunteer on-site projects. Helping get the camp ready for summer campers continues.

Over the years the club, primarily through it’s annual White Elephant Sale (WES), has raised an estimated $2 million that has contributed to construction of Cheff’s Lodge, camper cabins, roofing and re-roofings of cabins and staff homes, and purchase of staff housing. More recently, a major gift was made over three years in support of Willem’s Discovery Place in memory of the grandson of one of our long-time club leaders, Syd Baxter.

In 2024 WES is providing a matching grant to upgrade the waterfront, including an accessible fishing dock, kayak launching site and waterfront pads, making it useable for special needs campers.
